Breakfast – Marchini bar time
As a true sportsman, Cosmin usually has breakfast at home, but when craving something special, he prefers to come here for a “caffè lungo” and a “bignè allo zabaione.” This is a classic spot known for its variety of pastries, and like most small cafés in Italy, it has no seating, as customers typically stop by for a quick breakfast before work.
Sites – Basilica dei Frari
This 13th-century imposing church is one of Cosmin’s favorite spots in Venice. He walks past it almost every day (and can even see it from his house!), and its magnitude and majestic appearance never fail to fascinate him. Inside, visitors will find remarkable treasures of Italian art and sculpture that are definitely worth a visit.
Shopping – Fondaco Dei Tedeschi
Built for the first time in 1228 as a trading post for German merchants in the Serenissima, this jaw-dropping building was actually for a long time Venice’s main post office. Can you believe that? It has now become a luxury department store (probably the most beautiful one in the whole world) and is a special place for shopping due to its historical significance, cultural landmark, and curated selection.
A personal suggestion is to book in advance the free tickets to visit its terrace that, thanks to the super central location, will amaze you with its views.
Favourite restaurant – Bò
if “Don’t judge a book by its cover” was a restaurant, it would have to be this one. A very “familiar” location in one of Venice’s most typical areas, Bò will amaze you with its brilliant traditional yet innovative cuisine, offering you a great choice between historical Venetian dishes and more refined ones, with particular touches that will assure you an amazing culinary experience!
For a cocktail – Santa Cocktail Club
A very elegant location and high-quality drinks are all you need for a night out, and SANTA Cocktail Bar offers them both. The staff will be your best friend, so make sure to trust their expertise when choosing your drinks.
Aperitif time – H2NO and Maison De La Crêpe
Every Venetian has their go-to place for an “aperitivo” and “cicchetti” before dinner, and if Cosmin had to choose just one spot for an aperitif, it would be H2NO. Run by three Venetians and known for its vast selection of beers, this lively bar is the perfect place for both cicchetti and a great drink.
But what if the craving is for something sweet instead? With its carefully selected fresh ingredients and new flavors made daily, Maison De La Crêpe stands out as one of the few artisanal gelato shops in Venice. Offering irresistible flavors that keep visitors coming back for more, it promises not just a scoop of ice cream—but a treat worth savoring.
